Although the school year is coming to a close and motivation is at an all time low, students still have to study and prepare for AP exams. AP exams can be beneficial in that they have the potential to exempt a student from having to take a certain class in college, but only if they pass. Even though the preparation can be tedious, stressful ,and tiring, it will pay off in the end if the exam is passed.

“It’s important to study and prepare for AP exams because they impact AP weighting in your GPA, and could potentially grant you college credit,” junior Meghan Murphy said.

Asking other sources questions instead of just studying notes and doing practice tests is helpful in that not everyone retains the same information about a topic as the other person.

“Students should study for 1 hour a day, and if you know you have trouble, ask someone who has taken the same exam before what to study,” sophomore Michelle Lane said. “Also, ask teachers for tips.”

Procrastination is not advised in high school, especially at the end of the year when exams and EOCs are coming up.

“Advice for someone taking exams next year would be to not wait to study,” Meghan said.

It would be beneficial to the AP students if there were something to speed up the process of the test, or just something to make it go by more quickly.

“An improvement could be to let the students take more breaks throughout the test, since the tests are usually really long,” freshman RJ Samellas said.

The long lasting test is guaranteed to cause laziness and weariness, and students will become less willing to put in effort the longer the test goes on.

“It would be nice to have some sort of snack or beverage provided for us,” senior Dallas Zuniga said.

It is important to start preparing early because information from previous lessons that may have taken place months ago could be on the exam.

“There is a lot of material that can be on the test, so you have to prepare yourself for anything; even stuff from the beginning of the year,” RJ said.
