With the semester ending that doesn’t just mean exams, it also means moving on into new classes for most. It can be both stressful and exciting moving into new classes.

“I like semester classes because you only have to focus on it for 2 quarters so after that semester you’re good because you get to restart,” sophomore Serena Chandler said.

Students not only have to leave but some have to leave friends and be in classes with their friends if they didn’t last semester.

“It’s not that big of a transition like for government and economy, my friends are coming in and they weren’t in there last semester,” senior Kaitlyn Dowd-Howell said.

Most students have a semester class that they enjoy,“while others don’t have any semester classes this year.

“I don’t have a special class because I like my year long classes,” Kaitlyn said.

There are some students who would rather stick to the same classes all year long. Some students just find it annoying to change class.

“It’s kind of annoying, I would prefer sticking with the same classes all year,” freshman Drew Walsh said.

Teacher with semester classes have a short time to teach what they need to teach and prepare students for their semester exams. The time is semester classes isn’t very long.

““I don’t have any classes that are going to change, the classes stay the same all year long,””Learning Strategies teacher Jean White said. “But I think it’s good for students who struggle in classes to change classes.”

There are students who enjoy their semester classes, but not their year long classes. Students changing into the new semester find it tough.

“I’ll feel bad because I’ve heard third quarter in Algebra 2 is always tough,” Serena said.

Teachers love to meet new students in the next semester and love to teach new students. There are some who wish they could have the same students everyday all year long.

“I like the change, but I would like to see four by four classes where students come to the same classes everyday,” White said. “I think it’s good for students to work on a skill everyday.

Students find it difficult to learn with the changing of classes. Teacher feel the same way about it.

“No[teaching the same material doesn’t annoy me], I think it’s  good to review skills daily,” White said.

Some students may like the change because it gives them something different. It can give them something different to learn.

“Relieved [about changing my semester class for another semester class], I’ve been under a lot of pressure lately, and a change of scenery would be nice.” junior Mason Jimenez said.
