With the school year coming to an end, seniors anxiously prepare for graduation, college, and the pressure that comes with being an upperclassmen. Although this is a stressful time, students do get special privileges, starting with senior field day. To senior Courtney General, senior field day is a good idea because it helps alleviate this stress but also because it provides an escape from the busy school day.
“I think it’s a good idea because it’s like a last get together and we don’t have to be in class. I do think we should get out early, like at 12,” Courtney said.
Being a student, one always anticipates the end of the week and since senior field day falls on a Friday, it is a perfect time to unwind and relax before the weekend. Most students have neutral feelings toward senior field day but many jump at the opportunity to have an early dismissal.
“I only like [senior field day] because we get to leave early and it’s on a Friday,” senior Christen Enoch said.
Seniors enjoy being able to spend time with friends and have their last bit of fun before they graduate. Seniors get a much need break to wind down from the stress of their last few months of school.
“[Senior field day] gives you freedom, you get to spend more time with your friends and you get to leave early from school,” Christen said.
There are lots of fun activities for students to do at field day and there’s even food trucks for students to eat at which gives seniors the chance to enjoy their last bit of fun before the end of the year.
“[My favorite part about senior field day is] bubble ball because I feel like it’s going to be fun,” Courtney said.
For the future juniors, students can get an idea of what they get to do next year at senior field day and get to say what they are looking forward to next year.
“[I am looking forward to senior field day] because it is one of the privileges and specialties of being a senior, plus it would be fun just to get out of classes for the day, hang out with friends and have a good time,” junior Stephanie Johnson said.
Because the year is almost over, juniors start thinking about the next senior field day and whether or not they even plan on attending Most people just want to go for the experience and others for quality time with their friends. Whatever the reason, senior field day is one of those one time experiences that people should not plan on missing out on.
[I want to go to see] what [senior field day] is like and to have fun with my friends,” junior Katherine Baxley said.
