Story by Caroline Harvey,
Last week, Regal Cinemas hosted a fan event for Marvel’s latest movie, Thor: Ragnarok. The film has been given positive reviews by multiple sources, including a rating of 93% on Rotten Tomatoes. I was lucky enough to be able to reserve a ticket to the event.
Since it was an opening night event, tickets had to be reserved and printed in the form of a QR code. Instead of collecting and tearing off the ticket, the ticket taker scans the code and you’re in.
Once the ticket is scanned, you are given a wristband and a collectable coin to commemorate the event. The wristband is included in the price of the ticket, which guarantees a medium popcorn and a large drink with free refills, the cup even being designed to the theme of the movie.
When the ticket is purchased, it includes a seat number. Each newly renovated theater now has lettered rows and numbered seats. Every chair is a comfortable black leather, complete with controls on the side to recline; this is definitely an upgrade from the old, squeaky seats.
For anyone, Marvel fan or not, it would be hard to fall asleep during this particular film. Every second is filled with intensity, action, witty humor, and flat out goofy moments.
If previous Thor and Marvel movies haven’t suited your taste in entertainment, definitely try this one out. It breaks away from its overly serious predecessors and gives off a more colorful tone throughout the entirety of the movie.
It is far more fast-paced than other films, so you always need to be paying attention to understand a joke and to comprehend what is going on.
The villain this time around is much more advanced than previous villains, and at times makes you scratch your head as to whether or not everything leading up to that point has been true or false.
The Hulk’s involvement with this film is, without a doubt, incredible. Both the Hulk and Bruce Banner contribute to multiple knee-slapping moments, as well as times when you feel bad for whoever he is beating to a pulp.
Thor: Ragnarok has easily earned its high ratings in the past week. If you have not seen this movie yet, I highly recommend it. It would be a lot of fun to see with a few friends and family.
If you’re not usually one for superhero movies, this is not like the typical films. Try it out! Who knows, maybe you’ll change your mind. It’s a movie that has been worth the wait, and will definitely be worth seeing.
