The Super Bowl is one of the biggest TV programs that people all across America watch for many reasons: some for the commercials, some for the halftime show, and others for the game itself.
The Super Bowl is also a boost for many businesses, as the game in 2017 brought in $428 million, according to a new report released May 25 commissioned by the Houston Super Bowl Host Committee.
While it’s great for the town that is hosting the game, it also gives companies the ability to compete in making an eye catching commercial and upstage previous commercials like ‘Puppy-monkey-baby’. According to the Business Insider, the average cost for a commercial is $5 million for a 30-second ad. This year seemed to be a great year for Mountain Dew and Doritos; their commercial with Game of Thrones star Peter Dinklage spitting a rap by Busta Rhymes and Morgan Freeman rapping Missy Elliott.
Another part of the Super Bowl is the halftime show, with pop singer Justin Timberlake performing this year, making this his second time performing since 2004 with Janet Jackson. The singer brought his best since he’s competing with previous acts like Lady Gaga, Beyonce, and Katy Perry’s left shark. Although Twitter and others have words for his performance, many were wondering when NSYNC were going to make an appearance. Even with his performance JT gave us all a heart stopper with his tribute to the late Prince in a beautiful way.
What is a Super Bowl without the parties? These parties cause many store sales to rise due to people making piles of food for these parties and get togethers. Pizza Hut is having a deal in which if the record for the fastest touchdown in Super Bowl history is broken, Pizza Hut is offering every Hut Rewards member a free medium two-topping pizza.
The game was between the Patriots and the Eagles. The Eagles, to many, were the underdogs that really played well this season, with Nick Foles being, as National Geographic states a goat, and scoring the winning touchdown. The Eagles took the lead with a six point touchdown run and the Patriots scored three touchdowns in the first quarter, leaving the game with a 41-33 victory. This win will get the Eagles their first Super Bowl ring, and their third time going. The Patriots had an advantage having played seven games and winning five rings, but the Eagles sure did fly.
